ARTICLE: A Mysterious New Pokemon??

In the latest episode of Pokemon Smash, a new Pokemon has just been revealed who will appear in the upcoming 3DS titles Pokemon X and Pokemon Y.

About a week ago, a mysterious image of a new Pokemon Movie poster was leaked onto the internet, with fans speculating this new Pokemon to be an alternate form of the Generation I Legendary Pokemon: Mewtwo.

Today on Pokemon Smash and on the Pokemon X & Y official website, the new Pokemon was revealed with no name or type information, only an image and a small video with tiny little hints at information.

Mysterious New Pokemon Revealed

The Pokemon official site as well as Pokemon Smash both draw attention to how this "new" Pokemon has similar traits to Mewtwo, and shares connections to it. This leaves fans in disarray. Is this Pokemon simply a new form of the Pokemon Mewtwo to tie in with his new movie, or is this an entirely new Pokemon with some sort of connection to Mewtwo?

Mewthree or new Mewtwo Forme?

My personal opinion for this Pokemon is that it is NOT a new form of Mewtwo, but rather a Pokemon that somehow shares connections with it. My main reason is this: why would Gamefreak go out of the way to state how this Pokemon is similar to Mewtwo but a new Pokemon if it were just going to be a new form? Why not just state it from the beginning? Just because the movie is called "Mewtwo's Awakening" does not mean that this mysterious new Pokemon is Mewtwo. There is a very good chance that this Pokemon will star alongside Mewtwo and Genesect in the movie.

Also, the Pokemon seems to share very similar traits to not only Mewtwo, but also Mew. Mewtwo was an attempted clone at Mew, so perhaps this is another attempt at cloning the ancient mirage Pokemon. Perhaps this time, the attempt was more successful, and resulted in a clone that was even closer to Mew, but also shared traits of the original attempt of Mewtwo.

Could this Pokemon somehow related to both Mew and Mewtwo?

Whether this Pokemon turns out to be simply a new form of Mewtwo or something entirely different, I am quite pleased. Mewtwo has always been the ultimate Pokemon and making him relevant again through this Pokemon was a fantastic idea on Gamefreak's part. Sure, there is alot of fan hatred toward the design of this new Pokemon, especially if it is actually a Mewtwo form, but I think all of those fans just can't get over how they are changing a beloved Pokemon. I have been a Mewtwo fan from the start and I personally love this new design. I have high hopes for this new Pokemon, and hope it turns out to be a new Pokemon, perhaps Mewthree? Only time will tell, but this reveal has definitely made the wait for Pokemon X & Y even harder.
