TOP 10: Legendary Pokemon

And so it comes, the second half of our "top 10 Pokemon" segment.

Number 10: Darkrai
Generation: IV
Selected By: Giuliano V.

Darkrai was the first Dark-type legendary introduced into the series, and also one of the most OP and "evil" Pokemon in the series. Of any Pokemon, the only one to ever be considered actually "evil" is Darkrai, due to his nature of suspending entire towns into nightmares. Anyone who has ever used a Darkrai in battle, especially a double-battle, will know that his signature move: Dark Void, is one of the best moves in the game, combined with his ability which hurts Pokemon while they are asleep and Dream Eater. Darkrai also starred in the first movie of the fourth generation alongside Dialga and Palkia, although he wasn't portrayed as evil in the movie. He also appeared as the primary antagonist of the second Pokemon Mystery Dungeon game, where he was completely evil.

Number 9: Shaymin
Generation: IV
Selected By: Justin D.

Shaymin was introduced in Generation IV, the first Generation to have more than one "Mew-equivalent" type legendary. Alongside Manaphy and Phione, Shaymin appeared in this role as easily the best of the three, especially after the introduction of it's second forme. Shaymin, the cute little porcupine/dog thing is a graceful Pokemon that allows all nature to flourish around it. There isn't really much else to say about this Pokemon, but it definitely deserves to be on this list.

Number 8: Deoxys
Generation: III
Selected By: Matteo C.

Deoxys is the DNA Pokemon introduced at the end of Generation III, who is also the first ever Pokemon to display alternate formes, as well as the most exclusive legendary to obtain at the current time, with only one way to get it and that event has long passed unless you hack. Deoxys was introduced around the time FireRed and LeafGreen came out on GBA, and each of the games had its own exclusive forme of the creature. Deoxys can be known as one of the strangest and most unique legendary Pokemon out there, constantly referred to as the rival of Rayquaza, who is protecting Earth from invaders. Deoxys also opens up the possibility of Pokemon outside of Earth, as it originated on a meteorite, being the first ever "alien" Pokemon. For these unique qualities, Deoxys makes the list.

Number 7: Groudon
Generation: III
Selected By: Matteo C.

Groudon was the powerful earth legendary Pokemon that was the mascot of Pokemon Ruby. I can't remember exactly, but I believe Generation 3 was the Generation that had the most split between sales in the dual versions, as Ruby was the preferred version, likely due to the inclusion of Groudon, who is vastly considered much better than Kyogre. Matteo is a Generation 3 junkie, and he loves Groudon. Groudon can tear apart the earth with it's fists and I believe it remains the heaviest Pokemon to date, even surpassing Wailord.

Number 6: Lugia
Generation: II
Selected By: Matteo C.

Lugia is the mascot of Pokemon Silver and Pokemon SoulSilver and also the star of Pokemon 2000: The Power of One. Lugia is considered the master of the three legendary birds: Moltres, Articuno, and Zapdos, and also has immense power. Many people confuse Lugia's type, believing it to be Water/Flying, when it is really Psychic/Flying, although it is associated with water very commonly and can learn a variety of water-type moves. Lugia's signature move, Aeroblast, is probably one of the coolest moves in the game. Lugia deserves to be on this list for sure.

Number 5: Rayquaza
Generation: III
Selected By: Giuliano V.

Rayquaza is the powerful Dragon Pokemon that rules over the sky and is the mascot of Pokemon Emerald. Rayquaza is commonly seen as the protector of the Earth, ending the feud between Groudon and Kyogre and also protecting the world from the invader Deoxys. On the other hand, Rayquaza is also featured as a boss in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, where he seems very hostile toward Diddy Kong and Fox McCloud. Rayquaza was also the first Dragon-type legendary (before the mass wave of dragons emerged in Gen. IV) and easily the best designed, more like a japanese dragon than a common interpretation of them.

Number 4: Entei
Generation: II
Selected By: Justin D.

Entei is one of the legendary beasts from Generation II and the star of Pokemon: The Third Movie. Entei seems to have gotten the most exposure out of any of the trio Pokemon from any generation, starring in his own movie and used alot by powerful trainers. The legend says that every time Entei roars, a volcano erupts, meaning he is quite powerful. Entei holds a special place in our hearts and that is why we have rated him so high.

Number 3: Celebi
Generation: II
Selected By: Giuliano V.

Celebi is the time-travel Pokemon who appears at the end of the Johto Pokedex. I remember I used to refer to Celebi as "Cyber-Mew" and believed that Mew evolved into it, obviously because they are so similar. Celebi is one of two Pokemon to star in not one, but two different Pokemon movies, the other being Mew. The difference is, Celebi played the lead role in both films, whereas Mew was only a small part of Pokemon: The First Movie taking a backseat to Mewtwo. Celebi also appeared as a lead character in the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon series and in Pokemon Colosseum, where she helped heal shadow Pokemon. Celebi is seen to have immense power, despite being so cute, which ranks it at number three on our list.

Number 2: Ho-oh
Generation: II
Selected By: Justin D.

Ho-oh, the mascot of Pokemon Gold and Pokemon HeartGold comes in at number two. Ho-oh is the leader of the legendary beasts, and after they were killed in a fire, he was even able to revive them. Ho-oh is also the first legendary pokemon to ever appear in the anime, where he appeared in the VERY FIRST episode of the series, despite not actually having been created at that point. He always seemed as a sort of guardian to Ash, which is funny, since his name is Ash and ash is what Ho-oh is always related to. Ho-oh is also seen in Pokemon Colosseum, giving it's blessing to the player for freeing the Shadow Pokemon. Ho-oh is one of the greatest legendaries out there and makes number two on our list.

Number 1: Mewtwo
Generation: I
Selected By: Unanimous

Mewtwo is and will always be the greatest Legendary Pokemon of them all. Even though he isn't technically even supposed to exist, being created from altered DNA of Mew, Mewtwo is seen as the most powerful Pokemon ever created. I don't think there is one Pokemon player who didn't jump for joy when they finally caught Mewtwo in Pokemon Red and Blue. He is just that amazing. Every time I see one I just want to catch one. There is nothing else to say...he is just amazing.
