ARTICLE: 6 Reasons To Be Excited for Pokemon Generation 6

Pokemon X & Y are less than a week away from release! As we near the date we will finally get to play these revolutionary games, let's talk about why these games are going to be so damn good! Here are 6 Reasons To Be Excited for Generation 6!

1. Everything is in 3D!
Sylveon vs. Salamence
Now when I say 3D, I don't mean the gimmicky, 3D-glasses sort of 3D, I mean 3D sprites and over world! For generations Pokemon has been stuck at 2D sprites, making the "revolutionary" transition last generation to moving 2D sprites. Now with X & Y, we have FULL 3D EVERYTHING! The battles will constantly be flowing. The world will constantly be expanding. Pokemon has just gotten more real than ever before and it's all thanks to the 3DS' capabilities!

2. Fairy Type – The Game Changer!

There has not been a new type of Pokemon since Generation II when Steel and Dark were introduced. For years, we have gotten used to how to play the games in terms of type advantages, but with the addition of Fairy type, we have a whole new game! The previous kings of the Pokemon universe, Dragon-types, have just found their worst enemy. Generation VI will surely introduce tons of new Fairy-type monsters to add to your team, as well as reclassing some old Pokemon to Fairy-type such as Gardevoir, Marill and Jigglypuff. Beware these cute little pink monsters, they may be the new kings of the Pokemon universe!

3. Super Training? Super Easy!
Super Training
Any person who has been a long-time fan of Pokemon has surely at least heard of EV Training. EV Training is basically a long process in which a person could partake in to basically manipulate which stats would benefit the most when a Pokemon levelled up. Most Pokemon players never really bothered with EV training, but now with the introduction of Super Training, EV Training has just gotten way easier and more fun! By playing a series of games with your Pokemon, you can virtually emulate the exact same effects of EV Training without having to use a guide to grind for hours on end to get your Pokemon to have perfect stats! Finally, my Nidoking can have fantastic stats without me having to be bored to death!

4. Customizable Trainers!
Basic Character Customization

Are you an African-American fellow who has never been satisfied having to play as the white protagonist of the previous Pokemon games? Then you are in luck, because for the first time ever, the protagonist can actually reflect who you are! Yes, that's right. Not only can you customize your hair, skin tone, and facial hair, but you can also customize your clothes. Don't like wearing a hat? Take it off and show off your slick dew! And the best part is, the customization is a constant element of the game, so you can change your look whenever you want. Except, of course, if you decide you want to be the white protagonist again...I don't think this game looks to kindly on sudden ethnic identity changes...

5. Mega Pokemon – Mega Powerful!

Probably one of the coolest new additions to the series is Mega Pokemon! Basically, Game Freak has taken a handful of old, popular Pokemon and given them new "Mega" forms to make them even more badass than they already are. I mean, look at Mega Charizard X, is that not the definition of BAD-ASS? This addition adds a whole new playing field to Pokemon battles, having to account for trainers who may have one of these secret weapons buried somewhere in their team.

6. Tons of New Pokemon

(Middle Row) Noivern, Pyroar, Honedge, Malamar
(Bottom Row) Aromatisse, Dedenne, Aurorus, Tyrantrum

Last but not least, every Generation of Pokemon comes fit with a variety of new monsters of varying types, shapes, forms and abilities. Rumor has it that this time around we may not be getting as many as in previous generations, but the quality of the monsters more than makes up for the low number. We have some interesting new types such as Dark/Psychic, Rock/Dragon and Ghost/Steel while also getting some of the most unique starters and legendaries to date. Generation VI seems sure to deliver.

I honestly cannot wait until these games release and I really hope you are all as excited for these games as me. Sometime next month we will be sure to review the newest entry in the Pokemon series with high hopes.

Remember, Gotta Catch 'Em All!
